[Kofu Town] Shiitake Mushroom Garden Kodachi ~Iwana (char) set meal~

Hello! This is Masashi Morimoto!
This time, I went to "Shiitake-en Kodachi" in Misukue, Kofu-cho.
The shop is located in a mountainous area surrounded by the rich nature of Oku-Daisen. It's the perfect place to stop by during a drive or sightseeing trip.
On this particular day in Yonago, the city was experiencing the intense heat that follows the end of the rainy season, but a cool breeze blew through the area around the shop, making it easy to forget the heat.
It was a very pleasant experience, almost like visiting a summer resort.

Appearance and introspection
The shop has a simple and calming atmosphere that evokes a sense of nostalgia. Time flows slowly here, as you would expect from a shop nestled in the mountains.
The owner of the shop is cheerful and very talkative. She was happy to chat with us about not only the food but also local stories. I think these kinds of warm conversations are one of the joys of visiting "Shiitake-en Kodachi."
Iwana (char) set meal (grilled char with salt & shiitake mushroom rice)
I ordered the "Iwana Set Meal" this time. I chose "shiitake mushroom rice" for the rice in the set meal.
You can choose to have the char, raised in the fish tank next to the shop, prepared on the spot as sashimi or grilled with salt.
I would have liked to try fresh char sashimi as well, but this time I chose salt-grilled char for its photogenic qualities.
The char was grilled to a golden brown on the outside, while the flesh was tender and juicy. The perfect amount of salt enhanced the flavor of the char, making it a dish that could be savored from head to tail.
The "shiitake rice" dish, as the name of the restaurant suggests, uses thick, meaty shiitake mushrooms grown on-site, and the rice is also home-grown. The umami and flavor of the shiitake mushrooms are thoroughly infused into the rice, and the simple deliciousness spreads with every bite. It has a nostalgic taste that makes you want to eat it again, and it pairs well with the grilled char, making it hard to stop eating.
The set meal includes simmered dishes made with seasonal local vegetables, allowing you to enjoy the bounty of Oku-Daisen all at once. You can feel the warmth of homemade cooking in each dish, making you want to savor every bite.
I was just as interested in the grilled shiitake mushrooms cooked on a gas stove as I was in the char sashimi, but after consulting with my stomach, I decided against it this time.
I'd like to save both of those for my next visit.
Summary: This is a restaurant recommended for people like this.
Next to the restaurant is a rainbow trout fishing pond, making it a great place not only for a meal but also for families who want to enjoy fishing.
According to the shop owner, due to recent media and social media coverage, items are sometimes sold out even if customers visit, so they are currently operating on a reservation-only basis.
It's a great place to escape the summer heat and enjoy some cool time, but it's also recommended during the autumn foliage season when the surrounding trees change color.
If you're planning to stop by during your sightseeing or drive around Okudaisen, please make a reservation in advance.

My name is Masashi Morimoto, and I have been appointed a "TORiTABE Influencer." I was born and raised in Daisen Town (formerly Nakayama Town), Tottori Prefecture, and after living in Yonago, Kyoto, I have returned to Daisen Town. I am usually a salaryman. I don't have enough influence to be called an influencer, but I love to eat! I love to drink! I walk, run, and eat again! In these days, I will do my best to deliver "delicious!" news from Daisen Town, Tottori. I hope to be able to convey the charm of this region with one bite, one step at a time.
