[Tottori City] The originator of Tottori curry! Taste the rich curry at Cafe Beniya

Tottori is known as the curry kingdom, as it has one of the highest curry roux consumption rates in Japan.
There are many delicious curry restaurants in the eastern part of the prefecture, offering a variety of curries such as spicy curry, watery curry, South Indian-style curry, and medicinal curry. We chose to try the curry from a long-established coffee shop that could be said to be the originator of Tottori curry.

Appearance and introspection
"Kissa Beniya" is a long-established coffee shop located on Wakasa-kaido, the main street of Tottori City. It is about a 5-minute walk from Tottori Station. There is no parking lot, so please use the nearby coin parking lot.
The restaurant moved a few dozen meters north three years ago, and now has a spacious interior with a counter, three four-person tables, and four two-person tables.
chicken cutlet curry
Chicken cutlet curry (950 yen), a classic curry that has long been popular among locals
A rich curry characterized by the sweetness and flavor of onions and a deep spicy kick.
The rice used is from Tottori Prefecture.
The chicken cutlet has a crispy batter and tender meat, so tender that it can be easily cut with a spoon.
It's a Tottori flavor that has remained unchanged since ancient times.
It's also nice that you can take it home.
You can get it as curry rice or just curry without rice, which is convenient when you're out and about or when you want to eat at home.
Instant curry "BENIYA Beef Curry"
Ready-made curry released this year (2024) (972 yen)
The restaurant's curry is highly repeatable, and they apparently have many repeat customers.
That's because the curry base is made in-house and the seasonings are mixed exactly according to the restaurant's recipe.
The curry at this restaurant uses meat from Tottori and other prefectures depending on the availability, but this ready-made curry uses Tottori Wagyu beef. Luxury!
It's also recommended for people from Tottori who live outside the prefecture, and as a souvenir from Tottori. It's nice to be able to enjoy the flavors of Tottori even outside the prefecture.
Summary: This is a restaurant recommended for people like this.
Beni-ya was founded in 23 and has long enjoyed the same unchanging flavor among people in eastern Tottori Prefecture.
It's not just popular with locals, there are also days when customers from outside the prefecture line up to try Tottori curry. It's open from early in the morning until the evening, so you can get curry at any time, so it's a good idea to come at a different time on busy days.
Besides curry, shaved ice is also popular.
They have been serving shaved ice for decades, even before the recent craze.
There are many flavors of shaved ice available, including coffee and wine, but the most popular is the Indian milk flavor made with cocoa and condensed milk.

I live a relaxed life in eastern Tottori, mainly in Iwami Town. I love the sea. I love Tottori. I want people from outside the prefecture, as well as locals, to know how wonderful Tottori is.
